FAQ's
What age groups does Bolts Baseball serve?
Bolts Baseball focuses primarily on 14U–16U players, with teams aligned to graduation classes and supported by the larger Power Baseball infrastructure.
What makes Bolts Baseball different from typical travel teams?
Bolts is designed as a “travel baseball alternative” that blends structured practice, strength training, and competitive game play instead of only playing tournaments every weekend.
How many tournaments or events do teams usually play?
Following the Power Baseball model, summer teams generally play around six events, with older fall teams playing about three events due to high school commitments.
How do tryouts work?
Tryouts are typically run as multi-day camps that include bullpens for pitchers/catchers, measurable testing (60-yard dash, defensive evaluations, BP), and live games. Players receive communication via email with exact times and arrival instructions.
When are tryouts held?
Power Baseball, and by extension Bolts affiliates, generally host a Summer Season tryout in January and a Fall Season tryout later in the year (often August), with registration windows announced in advance.
What if my player can’t attend one of the tryout days?
Families are asked to email staff in advance (using the published info email) if players cannot attend Friday bullpens, the Saturday workout, or Sunday games so that an alternative evaluation plan can be arranged.
What is included in the program besides games?
Players receive on-field practices, strength and speed training sessions, access to development technology (Curve App, Blast, HitTrax, Trackman), recruiting exposure through video and events, and guidance from experienced staff.
Does Bolts Baseball help with college recruiting?
Yes. As part of Power Baseball, Bolts players benefit from an organization with hundreds of college commitments, a large network of college coaches, recruiting videos, and ongoing advocacy for uncommitted players.
What is the Power Baseball Foundation and does it affect Bolts families?
The Power Baseball Foundation is a nonprofit arm that offers fundraising and financial aid opportunities to eligible players and families within the program, helping offset costs of travel baseball. Bolts families may be able to participate depending on the current Foundation guidelines.
Who will coach my player’s Bolts team?
Specific coaching assignments are made each season and shared with roster invites. Teams are staffed by members of the Power Baseball coaching staff, which includes current and former high school and college coaches.
